Mexico.
1. How, When, Where and Why "EK" was born?
EK: EK was born in Guadalajara, Mexico with the restlessness to cause that Metal in Mexico has an “Own Sound” at 2000 but is in 2002 when is released our first CD-Demo like EK what was still a Project by then. We are not a Pioneering Band in the Sort but if We want to follow the example of which they have split off and others have resurged in the road.
2. Which Language belongs the Name of the Band? and What does EK mean and symbolizes within the Cosmogony of Our Ancestral Mexican Cultures?
EK: The name belongs to the Mayan language which means BLACK and just the black color, and we took it because simply is the color of the Metal, the color that day by day it identifies us and it distinguishes us within a blind and rotten Society. 
3. What Opinions and Reviews Have received from this Your 1st CD self – titled "EK" from Metal People?
EK: Since We ever occurred to know, the critics have been very varied, from good, simple, bad, constructive and destructive, but at the present time the Metal People support has been growing in a Positive way and that is very good.
4. Talking about this Recording… Which were the main obstacles to get complete your CD = Ek = ?
EK: Without a doubt, the problem of Everybodies: THE FUCKING MONEY!!!, I believe that is what it gave us problems since we had looking for many alternatives and We even indebted ourselves with a strong monetary amount. and because it continues being an obstacle for our new recording, because we already have new songs that by that reason could not have been released.
5. Talk us How is the Movement and Underground Scene in General there in Guadalajara and its Metropolitan Area about to: People, Bands, Gigs, Pubs, Media and Web Communities, etc.?
EK: The Movement is very good, but deficient in many cases, because bands arise day by day but as well as they arise disappear too. The People Supporting is really good the truth We didn’t complain in support to the Bands. The relationship with members of another bands also is very positive although in exceptions it gives the "Rockstar Syndrome" or the "Nepotism" occurs often. In forums, honestly it’s so very fucking bad, forums very small with poor equipment, damned or without that. The Support In Media is good but We still think so that’s not enough, exists Radio Universidad (Guadalajara University Community Radio) with its Legendary Radio Show El Despeñadero (“The Precipice”) which has years old of unconditional support for Metal of Jalisco, Mexican and International, in addition Television Channels like Channel 7 and Channel 6 this last one by cable system, which they count on with spaces of Musical Expression, but we thought about that Media would have to be most open to this Musical Sort. moreover that I know, We do not have a Fanzine. It seems impossible or Not?
6. Yourself How Would you be “auto – labeled” musically speaking or so What musical line EK could fit?... (This only like a reference for the People which has not listened to You).
EK: Our Style we have described it or named like: METAL MUERTE (METAL of Death), but not to translate Death Metal to Spanish Language, but by Our fusion with the Music of Our Cultures of Old Mexico, because in them, the relation with the DEATH express and is shaped in many senses.
7. Could You talk us Some of Your maximum Literary, Musical Influences and of Any kind in your Concept?...
EK: Definitively our influences are very varied, as much in the Literary Aspect as into the Musical, because each and everyone in the band have Tastes and different Influences, as far as the Music We could reduce it to that we didn’t close ourselves into a Sort in special, because the dyes go from Heavy Metal Classic, like present and even Music outside the Metal scope, I just to mention some Bands and very into personnel tastes: IN FLAMES, DARK TRANQUILLITY and SUSPERIA they are bands that mainly contribute much influence to my Guitar riffs in the new songs. HYPOCRISY is the Rodrigo’s influence (Vocals), but We would lose ourselves in a Sea of Bands if We mentioned all. Like Literary influences We could mention to writers like Charles Bukowski, Gary Jennings, Saúl Hernandez (JAGUARES) and Carlos Castaneda. And like extra data: TRANSMETAL was the band that it urged us to make Metal in Spanish Language.
8. What as much Influence and Inspiration has had "POPOL VUH" in the "EK" Concept?
EK: We thought that not much but Yes in great measurement, because the Legend of the Astral Twins hit much to Abraham and me (Cruz) then at the present time it’s a specie of Impulse in everything what We set out, even in the personal life, but it does not include the EK concept completely since we were based on different Cultures not only Mesoamerica, so in the case of the Incas whom we shaped in the Hijos del Sol (Children of the Sun) song. Briefly, We took a little and much from here and there.
9. Do You think What in Our Country and Our Own Contemporary Culture … Has the Sufficient Value occurred like Civilization Our Ancestral Cultures made?
EK: Definitively NO, Institutons like the INAH (Antropological and History National Institute) exists, that Study and Try to cause that the people know more, but if the Society does not concern a bull shit, the effort is not worth anything, We think that Importance of Our Ancestral Cultures must be transmitted by means into Family, Friends, Teachers, to be able to form a True Conscience of the wealth which We have each and everyone of us by the simple fact from being here, From THIS LAND!
10. It has spoken much on the matter of which it does not have or Have not been found "Registers" or "Documents" regarding to Music or Sonorous Documents... Only Instruments... Have You had Difficulty or not in trying to amalgamate and to rescue the Possible Ancestral Sounds with the Extreme Metal What “EK” Makes?
EK: Without a doubt it has been hard but not much, the experimentation has been a window for the exploration and the knowledge of the instruments, in fact many times “We Scold” to Manuel because he is very impetuous and sometimes in the rehearsals, He saturates much with the instruments but it’s question to be also learning. In Our Recording We had to apply some effects that reduced or increased the frequencies of sound in some tlapitzallis (Prehispanic whistles) so they were not outside the harmony in which we worked.
11. What Do You think about have done Mr. JORGE REYES (A Great New Age Mexican Musician), Mr. ANTONIO ZEPEDA (Another Great Etno – New Age Mexican Musician), MALLINALXOCHITL (A Mexican New Age Concept), and TRIBU (A Mexican Etno – Rock Fusion Band), into their Respective Musical concepts?
EK: In Guadalajara, we had the great Experience and Chance to see a JORGE REYES Performance, without a doubt brilliant mainly into Visual line because the Dancers whom perform in that oportunity, left hit us and astonished, Musically we considered more Natural to ZEPEDA than JORGE REYES this last one uses much Keyboards and Artificial Effects and ANTONIO is most natural and therefore more traditional. about TRIBU I only have listened mention them, but never I have listened to their Stuff, but I promise to look for stuff of them and MALLINALXOCHITL too.
12. EK’s Future Plans...
EK: Uuuuufffff, Well, the Plans are many and the Dreams even more, but well, the short term Plans: to continue with Our new songs and to Play elsewhere. Medium term Plans: We want to record our New Stuff to later released our Second Album. and long term: because nobody has the bought Life so the Expectations and the Dreams are in lasting much in the Scene, not to let make Music and record it mainly obvious but, We want to Rise and mature Musically and that each Album is Better than the previous one.
